illuminate is now available for Xenforo 2.3.​

illuminate is a minimal, modern theme for Xenforo. A compact, dark header neatly contains your logo, navigation, a fluid search bar and user icons - while your main content is placed on a simple background for easy reading. Categories can be styled with their own unique colour scheme which is especially great for sports teams, brands, games or movies.

Previously, there were 3 different versions of illuminate available: Light, Dark and Pro (which simply bundled the light and dark versions at a discounted price). With the introduction of the Style Variation system in Xenforo 2.3, these themes have been merged into a single illuminate theme which has both light and dark versions included.

All illuminate customers can download the updated version from the Client Area.

Many thanks for upgrading this!

Just a quick question - what is the process for upgrading these?
As in - Will this also work under 2.2.16, so it can be installed under that and just "work" under 2.3 when migrated? Or does the "old" one need to be removed and then re-added post upgrade?

Hi Paul,

These theme updates are only compatible with Xenforo 2.3.x. They won't work on 2.2 and will likely result in a broken site.

In terms of upgrading, I would upgrade your site first to 2.3, and then install the 2.3 theme as a fresh theme. You can try using the "Update theme" feature, but there are dozens of changes between 2.2 and 2.3, so I'm not sure if it'll be able to cope with that. A fresh install would be safest, if possible.

Thank you Ehren - I'll remove the theme prior to migration, and then re-add the theme post that (y)
 
Illuminate has been updated to version 2.3.0.2. Bugs were squashed and a "Style variations" icon is now in the user panel for easier light/dark toggling.

Xenforo hasn't introduced an option for that for some reason.

I might need to redo the themes with dark mode as the default colour, and light as the alternative colour. Then you can just disable the Style Picker if you want to force a dark theme. It's not very intuitive I'm afraid..

Only theme related stuff will need to be redone. Forum rules and advertisements are handled by the software. You'll need to redo the guest message since that's a Style Property.
 
Illuminate has been updated to 2.3.0.3, with the following changes:

  • Improved sticky sidebar positioning
  • Adjusted color of staff bar so it more closely resembles the 2.2 version
  • Adjusted the style of pagination so it more closely resembles the 2.2 version
  • Updated the colors of the "Post thread" modal in dark mode
  • Fixed an issue where disabling the Search bar would break the Customizer
  • Fixed the alignment of the first node child in grid view
  • Fixed the color of the Member pop-up window
