Guest message

All xenfocus styles come with a guest message, which prompts your visitors to either sign into an existing account, or register a new one. It can be customized under Style Properties > Xenfocus: Guest message

The Layout option changes the style of the message. "Wallpaper" shows a background image with centered text. "Alert" shows a brighter but slimmer box, which easily grabs the attention of your visitors.

If you select "Wallpaper" and have defined an image under "Wallpaper: Image and color", you can use the "Wallpaper image overlay" setting to provide better contrast between your image and text. Every image is different, so play with this value until you're happy with the result.

You can reduce the padding of the guest message by adding this to extra.less

.focus-guest.focus-guest-wallpaper{
  padding: 20px;
}

Hello,

Unfortunately the guest message doesn't have a translation feature. You'd likely need to manually edit the HTML code for the guest message if you need different translations.

What are the best dimensions for the background? What default dimension should I start with?

The size of the guest message will vary depending on the size of your screen (a mobile screen is much different to a large desktop monitor). The amount of content inside your message will also affect the boxes size. Taking a screenshot of your guest message and opening inspecting the file dimensions will give you a rough idea on size.

Focusing on file size is a more important metric. A couple of hundred kilobytes at most would be ideal. Stay away from .png images since they'll quickly blow out to massive file sizes.
